Why Reorganizing the Pantry Made Me Smile

Well, I can cross SOMEthing off my to-do list! I reorganized the pantry cupboards. At least now I can find everything…sometimes I get all wrapped around the axle wishing I had more storage space, a more sophisticated-looking kitchen, whatever. And then I am reminded that God has always provided EXACTLY what I need. I have never gone hungry. I have never been homeless. If nothing else, cleaning out the pantry has reminded me how faithfully I have been provided for. Again and again and AGAIN.

Honestly, looking at these pictures is pretty humbling. I know that right now thousands and thousands of people in the world will not have breakfast or lunch or dinner. I am a little embarrassed that I have doubted the goodness of God for even a SECOND. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, God, for my well-stocked pantry and Kyle’s job and the way you have given freely, with both hands, saying, “I will never leave you nor forsake you, Elizabeth.” Wow.

What about you? What’s making you feel thankful today?

love, elizabeth

PS: Stay tuned! Our fall giveaway is just around the corner!

  1. My pantry is so full I vowed last week to donate to the food bank b/c I have too much. Good reminder... I am thankful for good health and a happy life.

  2. You're so right! We spend so much time wishing and wanting so much more, but really we have everything we need. Things could be so much worse.

I'm thankful for the love I have in my life :)

  3. Thanks for this great posting! Well written.
Indeed we have more than enough but often we forget this; thank you for reminding.
In the newspaper has been an article that each person in Germany throws away ~240 kg food p.a. - what a shame :-(.

I'm thakful today to have a safe town and a warm and comfy bed. :-)

    Good night!
    :-)

  4. today i am thankful that God watched over husband yesterday - he blacked out while driving to school and hit a tree head on - they ended up cutting him out of his 4runner so it's totaled but could care less.

God allowed him to get out with only bumps and bruises and we are beyond thankful.

So today, I am thankful for life, for a God who knows how to protect, and for my husband, because even in times of stress and pain for him, he is still caring, giving and making sure I'm ok.

    Today I am thankful for:
    You.
    Garrett.
    My home.
    My job.
not necessarily in that order. ~hugs~

  7. I am thankful that God saw fit to give YOU to ME, 24 years ago. And that your "little" brother followed 3 1/2 years later. And that I have a great marriage and a lovely son-in-love and I am bound for heaven, one of these days!
