How to Pack a Suitcase

Not to brag or anything (I am totally about to brag), but I pack a lean, mean suitcase. This trip poses a unique challenge because I am driving to North Carolina but flying home so while I have plenty of room for the road trip, everything I pack has to pass muster at the airport, too. I’ll keep a few things out for my handbag like road maps, GPS, camera and charger, iPod, my trusty Sperry’s and some snacks. Other than that, everything is here! Check it out…

I invested in a buckle-style luggage strap to secure my vintage suitcase, in lieu of a lock. Mine is from Target but you can find them lots of places, including this cute handmade one I spotted on Etsy.

What are your best tips for packing light?

  1. I'm horrible at packing, however, this time I'm trying just to bring one suitcase with me.

  2. Everything looks snug as a bug in a rug - I incidentally also call them 'unmentionables':)

    Have a good trip!

  4. I did not DEMAND that you read that book! I just wrote a review on my blog (which, by the way, specifically said I was not going to demand that people read it, because I didn't want it to be a chore) and after reading it you could not resist.

But it is really good. Probably my favorite book of all time. So... yeah.

  5. Elizabeth, please teach me your ways. I tend to bring everything in my closet and pack WAY too much. My suitcase would never look like this..unless you put an explosive in it and took a photo of the aftermath. Then we'd be close.

  7. I learned that rolling your clothes, instead of folding, gives you room to pack even more clothes.
