#notembarrassed

Day 10…Instead of talking about embarrassing moments, of which I have many, I thought today I would talk about the person in my life who lives without embarrassment. Madigan. My dog.

Mad for Madigan

Madigan doesn’t know how to be embarrassed.

“Hey Mom, I got scared and peed on the bed. #notembarassed”

“I like to drink water really fast like maybe all the water on the planet will suddenly run out and because I like to make you feel guilty for forgetting to refill my water bowl but then I drink so fast that I choke and have to hack up a lung for fifteen minutes. #notembarrassed”

“You guys, I totes ate three chicken wing bones out of the garbage and then took a gigantic dump on your living room carpet because YOLO. #notembarrassed”

“Just farted really loud and woke myself up but I am still pretending it was one of you. #notembarrassed.”

“You were ignoring me when we went to bed last night, so I put my giant furry butt on the pillow right next to your face until you acknowledged me. #notembarrassed.”

Case, in point:

This is Madigan laying on top of a heavy box while Kyle is carrying it across the parking lot. All Kyle said was, “Madigan, are you serious right now?” She did not reply.

People, this is what it looks like to live without shame.

PS: I should probably introduce Madigan to some dogshaming but I have a feeling she would not care. At all.

Some fuzzy adorbs for your Saturday morning

Don’t thank me. Thank my Disney-character-come-to-life-dog. Madigan, stop it. Your cuteness should be illegal.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I’ll be spending most of it trying to write this lit review for my prospectus. Maybe some house-cleaning. If I’m really good, I might even sneak away for a couple hours to see this movie. After all, it is important to support your movie-husband in all of his endeavors. Maybe I can convince real-life husband to take me.

Madigan is a Snow Puppy

Whoever was dreaming of a white Christmas was obviously not inhabiting the two and a half feet directly above the ground. Seriously. Look at my fur. I was absolutely pristine this morning. Now I am wet and cold and angry. Is this fun for you?

Off to wipe my muddy snow-paws on Mom’s pillow,

a puppy playing in leaves…need I say more?

Apparently Madigan’s definition of “enjoying the fall color” is snacking on leaves. And then gacking them up all over the living room carpet. Nice, Madigan. Real classy.

Days of fall fly faster

Park62

The fall colors have been incredible in Ohio this year and so Kyle and I snuck away to eat lunch at the park and play in the leaves. I’m really glad I didn’t forget my camera because the light was so great.

I needed a little bit of sunshine this week. ESPECIALLY because…according to the forecaster…we may be seeing our first SNOW next weekend. I don’t know if I’m ready for that.

Madigan was such a funny fuzzball the whole time we were there and I took so many pictures of her that I’m going to give her her own post.

Are you getting to spend any time out of doors before the real cold hits?

Mad Face

Since Kyle has the day off, we’re spending the morning doing a little rearranging in our bedroom. I’m really excited to show you when it’s done. Meanwhile, Madigan felt like posing for all of you.

I never understood what irrepressible really meant until I met this dog. She just makes everything better.

Madigan Gets a Makeover

Dear Readers:

It’s been awhile since I’ve addressed you directly. What can I say? I’ve been on va-cay, having some serious me-time. But events have transpired and I feel I should break my blog silence.

You know how you think something is a good idea and then it really isn’t? But it’s too late because you’ve already said, “Oh, hey, yeah, it’s totally cool if you give me a hair cut”? I’ll admit it. I was getting furry. But who doesn’t like to let it all hang out in the summertime?

Mad8

But my mom was all like, “Oh, Madigan, it’s so hot, let me give you a haircut, it’ll be super easy, do you want a treat?” And I was all like, “Sure, yeah, whatever,” totally not even KNOWING what I was agreeing to. Have you ever seen a picture that made you think, “OMG, someone please invent time travel”??? Here I am in the bathroom, awaiting my fate. So naïve, so innocent. So blissfully ignorant.

Mad1

And then…stuff got real.

Mad3

Mad5

Mad4

Why don’t they just legally change my name to Patches or Bald Spot or The Dog Who Foolishly Believed Her Owners and Let Them Give Her a “Trim” and get it over with? I told Mom if she was that interested in saving money on haircuts, I would be more than happy to cut her bangs for her. Revenge is so sweet.

Mad7

Want to read more of my thoughts? You can. Here and here and here and here. And here.

You know you love me.

XOXO

Madigan

PS: I’m on a GG marathon right now, peeps. Sue me.

My Hipster Husband

I can’t decide who in this picture I want to kiss more.

KyleMad

Kyle: If you were ever hideously ugly and grotesque...I would want to be hideously ugly and grotesque so we could be ugly and grotesque together.

Elizabeth: That's so romantic.

KyleMad2

KyleMad3

I’ve finally decided to actually blog about how Kyle and I met and fell in love and all of it. It’s a complicated one, I guess, and not very many people have heard the whole story. I wrote the first chapter and I’ll be posting it this coming week. I hope you’ll come back and read.

Buddy Holly, My Vintage Suitcase

I’m going to be taking a couple trips in the next few months and I found this old guy languishing in the corner of the Volunteers of America Thrift Store here in Columbus and I brought him home for a whopping $4.95.

SuitcaseInside1

I did some research online and here are his specs…

Samsonite, Shwayder Bros, Denver, Colorado, Suitcase Model 4551, Ivory Marble, circa 1950’s (definitely no later than 1965 since the Shwayder Bros. officially changed their name to Samsonite in 1966). He had a pink airline sticker on the handle from a previous trip to Hawaii but based on his condition, I think he’s seen a whole bunch of the world. This model is running for somewhere between $30 and $60 online so I think this was definitely a score…

I’ve named him Buddy Holly. If anyone thinks it’s creepy that I named my suitcase after a rockstar who died in a plane crash…you should keep in mind that it’s creepy to name your suitcase period. And if you don’t know why Buddy Holly (the hipster before there were hipsters) is an awesome name for a suitcase from the 1950’s, you haven’t seen this.

I took some cleaning solution and a rag and scrubbed the grim off.

And Madigan decided to do some modeling.

Where are we going, Mom? More importantly, does this suitcase make me look fat?

What do you think? With his sparkling clean handles, I’m kind of crushing on Buddy Holly now. What about you? Do you like your luggage? Have you purchased anything secondhand recently?
